Good News for Fred Thompson

Rassmussen reports that only 62% of likely Iowa Caucus goers are certain that they will not change their mind on who they will support, and of those that say there is a good chance they could change there mind, Senator Thompson is a top second choice.

Additionally Rassmussen is also reporting that in there current polling, Huckabee's favorability is down 14% in the last week and his Very Favorable has dropped 13%.

The LEADER in the Favorablity ratings is Senator Thompson with 77% Favorability.

Santa's Suprise for A Marine and His Mom

A week or two ago, one of the ladies at the office came to me and asked about our “employee purchase program” for Dell computers.

She told me what was needed and asked if the warranty on the laptop would cover “sand.” “Sand?” I asked. It turned out that she wanted to get a laptop for her son, a full Corporal in the United States Marine Corp. Her son will shortly be starting his second tour in Iraq—this time as mobile security. The young man has a wife and infant.

I talked to a couple of people at the office and we jointly decided that we felt that we would like to contribute something to offset the cost of the laptop… after all, this laptop is for a Marine, so he can keep in touch with his mom and dad, and his wife and baby.

So we sent out some emails around the company (we have about 115 people here). I immediately got an email from a fellow employee that works closely with this lady that said, “you tell me how much we raise, and I will pay the balance.” The other person that helped me organize this and I were moved to tears!!!!

The story gets better-- within a couple of days of discussing the idea, the employees of our company SECRETLY raised not only the $1475 for the laptop (we made sure this Marine is getting a GREAT laptop from Dell—AND our Dell Rep gave us a GREAT deal once he found out the cause), but also an additional $225 that we have used to buy 4150 Military Phone Card Minutes! That is $1700 raised in 48 hours all to help a Combat Marine and his family at Christmas. All money was from individual employees—not from corporate sponsorship.

Well the laptop arrived and has been loaded with software (office, anti-virus etc) and music (several GIG’s of music files). Some of us are also creating “Support our Troops” videos that we will load onto the laptop for this Corporal to share with the rest of his Platoon.

We surprised the Corporal's Mom with the laptop today during our company luncheon (there were lots of tears).

This was NOT “charity” for an employee—This was the “rank and file” employees of our company wanting to support a young man who is dedicating his life to serving our country.

This is something that we hope becomes contagious. We are from a small company who has one employee with a child in combat and we felt he should get a gift from Santa this Christmas.

Wouldn’t it be great if EVERY company who has employees with a Spouse, a Son or a Daughter in Combat decided that they should do something for their Service Man or Woman this year, or through-out the year? Our small group of employees did it, without Corporate Sponsorship.

Why can’t everyone?

IOWA REPUBLICANS: WAKE UP!!!

Iowa Republicans are driving me insane. Or perhaps I should say, the people from Iowa who are answering Pollsters and SAYING they are Republicans are driving me insane.

It is time for you all to wake up and smell the coffee. There is only ONE conservative REPUBLICAN running for the nomination of the the GOP for President. That ONE conservative is Senator Fred Dalton Thompson.

The biggest issue that I have is with this Huckabee thing that the press seems to be all excited about. Are the Republicans in Iowa, and New Hampshire and Florida asleep?

Huckabee is soft on crime. Huckabee has pardoned or paroled more felons than all three of his predecessors combined.

Huckabee has LIED about having a theology degree. In the CNN-YouTube debate he stated "The only person here with a theology degree, there are parts of it I don't fully understand, but I am not supposed to, because the bible is the revelation of an infinite god.." BUT in a letter to the National Review, Joe Carter, director of research for Huckabee says "Governor Huckabee doesn’t have a theology degree. He only spent a year in seminary."

Huckabee is soft on illegal immigration. According to FactCheck.org: the bill Huckabee pushed for in his 2005 State of the State address did not apply only to "those children who had been in our schools their entire school life." It required only three years in an Arkansas high school to be eligible. And students did not have to be "applying for citizenship," but rather they had to sign an affidavit stating their intent to do so in the future..

Huckabee is a TAX RAISER. He keeps saying, "I lowered taxes," yet the truth of the matter is that he presided over 21 Tax increases in Arkansas and presided over a NET TAX INCREASE.

This should be MORE THAN ENOUGH for the PARTY OF RONALD REAGAN to send Mike Huckabee packing back to Arkansas.

God Save the Queen

It is nice to be able to talk about pleasant news every once in a while, and this counts, I think, as pleasant news.

This week, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, will become the oldest monarch in the history of the United Kingdom. Her reign has seen eleven Prime Ministers, including Sir Winston Churchill and is the first monarch ever to have a Prime Minister who was born during during a reign. Her reign has also seen the Presidency of eleven United States Presidents, starting with President Truman. Queen Elizabeth was born on April 21, 1926 and ascended to the throne on February 6, 1952 after the death of her father, HM King George VI.

The Queen surpasses Queen Victoria who was previously the United Kingdom's oldest monarch. Queen Victoria died at age 81, 7 months 4 weeks and 1 day. However, Queen Elizabeth must remain on the throne until September 9, 2015 to surpass Queen Victoria as the United Kingdom's longest ruling monarch.

Queen Elizabeth holds the official title of: Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith. She is also the Queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Christopher and Nevis, the Lord of Mann, Duke of Normandy and Duke of Lancaster.

Also this week, the Queen's eighth Grandchild was born to Prince Edward and Princess Sophia, the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Princess Sophia gave birth to a boy on Monday, December 17. The baby, who has not been named, will be eighth in line to the throne.

Light Blogging

So I have been a little light on the blogging lately and I feel I owe readers an explanation. A couple of things have been going on personally, that I may write about more later, including some job change issues. The other issue that I have been dealing with is a shoulder strain that has caused me some difficulty in typing.

Rest assured, I am working on some articles that I hope to have posted soon, including an article on the question that has been bugging me for the last few weeks-- "What Is Wrong With the Republicans In Iowa?"

Return to the "Good Ole' Days" of the Cold War

Now that former KGB officer Vladimir Putin has decided to become Prime Minister and therefore extend his reign for years to come, it seem his next step is to re-instate the Cold War.

Today the Russians announced that should the US decide to deploy systems that will be used to take out missiles from Iran, Syria or other Middle Eastern rouge nations, they will target them with Nukes.

Additionally, the Russians began shipping enriched uranium to Iran today.

And to think, I thought we won the Cold War. I guess it's time for Cold War II.

Kansas City Star: "TOPEKA: Attorney General Paul Morrison will resign next month, he announced this afternoon.

Al Gore: It's All the US's Fault!!! ManBearPig Running Rampant

Algore, inventor of the Internet, the man who brought ManBearPig* (MBP) to the attention of the world, and winner of the Nobel (liberal) Political Prize, spoke today at the Bali Summit on Global Warming and declared boldly, that the world should blame everything on the United States. "My own country, the United States, is principally responsible for obstructing progress here in Bali. We all know that," he said. Some reports state he ended his speech by telling the delegates from 190 countries, "I'm cereal about this!" but these reports have yet to be confirmed.

Unfortunately, Mr. Algore left out some "Inconvenient Truths" from NASA in his speech today. The NASA Earth Observatory released new data and images showing RECORD ICE GROWTH in the Arctic circle.

The disappointing part of the NASA article and pictures is that NASA put a political spin on their images. If you look at the picture to the right, you will see two images of the Arctic. The first shows more ice than the second. I glanced at this image and at first thought that this image showed the ice caps receding. After all, there is more ice in the first picture than there is in the second picture.

HOWEVER, this is not the case. The top picture is the CURRENT conditions while the bottom picture is of the conditions from several months ago. In other words, NASA posted the pictures in the exact opposite order of what people would expect. Usually we see the "before" picture first, then the after picture- not the other way around.

The Good News is that the ICE PACK has grown even more since the NASA images.

Images from the Arctic Climate Research website of the University of Illinois shows the Arctic Ice Pack has virtually returned to normal. (left picture)

Maybe this means that the NASA report from 2001 about the causes of Arctic Ice Melt is correct. The report, dated October 1, 2001 and posted on the Goddard Space Flight Center web site as a "Top Story," stated "largely natural "ups and downs" in a weather system centered near Iceland have contributed to regional variations and an overall decrease in Arctic sea ice cover..."

The report states that a "semi-permanent" low pressure system over Iceland causes much of the variation from year to year of Arctic Sea Ice.

*ManBearPig- originally from South Park Episode 145. In South Park, Al Gore runs around warning people about ManBearPig. ManBearPig is a spoof of Mass Balance Potential (MBP). MBP is a term used in "Global Warming" research when describing glacier melting.

Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state of Maine."

US, British in Battle with Taliban for Musa Qala

Several Thousand US, British and Coalition forces are currently involved a battle to take the town of Musa Qala back from Taliban Forces.

The British are reporting that three thousand British troops including the British Army's 52 Brigade, the Royal Marines 40th Commando, 2nd Battalion (the Yorkshire Regiment) and 1st Battalion (the Scots Guards), light tanks from the Household Cavalry plus members of the Afghan army attacked from the south of Musa Qala. This attack was a diversionary strike while a division of the 82nd Airborne attacked from the north.

The Taliban are believed to have over 2000 fighters in the town along with Anti-Aircraft guns in the hills around the town. The Taliban have been in the town since February of 2007 and have been preparing for this attack by placing mine fields around the area and creating various other defenses that surround the town.

There are claims that a 12 year-old boy was hung by the Taliban for informing British troops of the location of IED's. The Taliban accused the boy of being a spy for the British.

The Afghan government is reporting the capture of Mullah Rahim Akhund, the Taliban governor for Helmand and Mullah Mateen Akhund, the district governor for Musa Qala. Both were reported to have been captured while fleeing the area.

CENTCOM reports that the battle began on December 7 and will continue for several days.

Reuters is reporting US airstrikes targeting Taliban forces in the Helmand province, which is where the town of Musa Qala is located.

Musa Qala is in an area with mountains to the north and is in the middle of a large poppy growing region. Musa Qala has become the center of drug trafficking in Afghanistan since the Taliban took over the city.

UPDATE:
BBC is reporting that heavy rain fell on the battle field overnight and that there has been little movement in the front-lines. The Afghan army is to lead the final assault, but that assault has yet to begin.

The Long War Journal is reporting that the Taliban have conducted ambushes and attacks against Afghan and international forces in Nawzad, Girshk, and the Kajaki Dam regions

Thus far, it is believed that there is ONE NATO Casualty while there are TWELVE TALIBAN that have been capped. There may also be one civilian casualty in this city of 20,000.

UPDATE:
The front has now moved to within 1 kilometer of Musa Qala. The British are saying that the Taliban has suffered "big casualties" in the battle and that a "large number" of Taliban were fleeing. The Afghans are saying the defense has "crashed." However, the British are also saying
that this offensive may take several more days.

UPDATE:
At 10:00 GMT NATO Troops entered Musa Qala. At this time the Taliban are in full retreat.

ChiCom Information Warfare

As an Information Technology professional, I end up dealing with network attacks on a daily basis. Some of the more interesting that I have noted lately are from both Iran (top-level domain .ir) and the Peoples Republic of China (top-level domain .cn). A large amount of spam that I see every day and automated penetration attempts have come from IP addresses that trace back to these two countries. It has become bad enough that I routinely block traffic that resolves to China or Iran (traffic that is actually resolving to a domain name). I have often postulated that this activity is organized and an attempt to attack American businesses. This is not a new theory. It has been suggested and reported on since 2001.

Today however, I read that the attacks from the ChiComs have been aimed at Oak Ridge, Los Alamos and other such labs around the US.

It should be noted that these attacks are listed as sophisticated. It also should be noted that ALL Internet traffic in and out of the PRC is controlled by the Commie Government. I personally have been told that American Citizens that are in the PRC are not able to get to sites like BlogSpot, etc. and that all traffic is monitored. Therefore it is easy to assume that these attacks are government sponsored or controlled.

Illegal Alien Drunk Drivers- Personal Experience

Digger at Digger's Realm today discusses a topic that I unfortunately have personal experience with-- Illegal Alien Drunk Drivers.

In 1997 I was on the shoulder of I-35 at the Kansas City Airport trying to fix my car that had broken down. I had been under the hood of the car and dropped a bolt. I moved out from the hood just a split second before the car was totaled by a drunk, Illegal Alien who was backing up the shoulder of the Interstate. After hitting me, he left the scene. Thank God for a Good Samaritan who saw the whole thing, checked on me first (I had minor injuries) and then followed the illegals as they drove around the Kansas City Airport on blown tires.

The two Illegals were apprehended, and charged with DUI and Leaving the Scene. I found later that they served 30 days in jail and were sent back to Mexico. Of course, I was never compensated for the damages.

It is nice to hear that finally this issue is being given attention.

Suicide Bomber Rams School Bus

Just when I think I have seen everything from our barbaric enemy, they do something like this. Ramming a school bus full of children with a car bomb- this from a group that states it is doing GOD's will. No God that I know of would sanction suicide attacks upon Children.
"ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into a schoolbus near an air force base in northwest Pakistan on Monday, killing himself and wounding about nine people, including several children, the military said. 'A terrorist targeted a schoolchildren's bus.

The driver and the guard who were sitting in the front have been seriously injured,' said military spokesman Major-General Waheed Arshad. 'Because of the timely reaction of the driver, the children were saved. Only about six or seven children were injured,' he added. 'It was outside the Kamra air base. It was specially targeting the schoolchildren's bus.'"

French Say Report Reinforces Need for Pressure On Iran

While the US Media seems intent on broadcasting to the world that the NIE on Iran says,"Bush is Wrong," other countries, including the French are saying the report means that the world needs to keep up pressure on Iran and that the need for sanctions has not been deminished.

The German government stated that the report confirmed that pressure on Iran was working and that the pressure should be maintained.

From AFP
Britain's foreign secretary David Miliband agreed Wednesday that Tehran was still refusing to bow to UN resolutions to halt uranium enrichment, which can be used to make bombs.

"That defiance remains the case," Miliband told reporters after talks in London with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, adding Britain and China were committed to non-proliferation.

"We will continue to work very closely together, secure in the knowledge that we are pursuing the shared goal of a more stable and peaceful world," he said.

Germany also said Iran's nuclear program remained a cause for concern. "The findings confirm what the German government has always said -- that diplomatic negotiations are promising," chief government spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm said.

"But you also know the reality that two UN Security Council resolutions have not been followed and that Iran has not yet stopped its uranium enrichment program."

ChiComs's New Showers- Cause for Concern?

The Peoples Republic of China (ChiComs) announced today a new shower truck that can be set up in 5 minutes and allow 20 men to shower simultaneously.

The ChiCom press is stating this for the "comfort" of troops.

However-
The ChiComs made a point of announcing that this could be set up in less than 5 minutes. After a week in the field, why is it necessary to have a shower vehicle that can be rapidly deployed? Is this truly just for hygiene?

In my opinion, probably not. Water showers are also used for decontamination from biological, chemical and nuclear weapons. The only military purpose to have a vehicle that can be so rapidly deployed is for this purpose.

I do not believe it to be unreasonable to believe that the ChiComs were sending a message that they are prepared for engagements that may involve these horrific weapons.

The Things Iran Has Said

While the world seems to be paying attention to the NIE that alleges that the Iranians have stopped their nuclear weapons program, there are several points that seem to be being missed.

Iran is continuing to enrich Uranium. This is against UN Resolutions and the only logical use for this is for weaponization.

Iran announced the development of the Ashura Missile. This missile is alleged to have a 1,200 mile range and is supposed to be a step up from the Shihab-III missile. The 1,200 mile range will allow this missile to hit anywhere in Israel, a state that Iran has sworn to wipe off the face of the earth. Additionally this missile can hit a variety of US bases in the region. The purpose of this missile can in no way be construed to be defensive with the indicated range.

Iran has announced that it has developed a sonar evading submarine, the "Ghadir." It is unlikely in my opinion that a diesel-electric boat could evade US sonar, but, again, this is not a purely defensive weapon. This weapon is, in my opinion designed for the sole purpose of stopping shipping in the Persian Gulf and to punch holes in the sides of merchant vessels.

None of these developments can be construed as "peaceful." Each of these developments continue to point to the fact that Iran is a Clear and Present Danger, if not to the security of the United States, then definitely to our strongest alley in the Middle East, Israel.

Gibbons Freed!!!

Sudan frees Briton in teddy row - CNN.com:
KHARTOUM, Sudan (CNN)
-- A British teacher in Sudan jailed over the naming of a teddy bear has been released from police custody, the British Embassy in Khartoum said, several hours after Sudan's president Omar al-Bashir pardoned her.

An undated amateur photo shows Gillian Gibbons, who was jailed for allowing children to name a teddy bear 'Mohammed'. Gillian Gibbons, freed after Sudan's president Omar al-Bashir granted her a presidential pardon earlier Monday, apologized for any distress her actions may have caused.

'I have great respect for the Islamic religion and would not knowingly offend anyone and I am sorry if I caused any distress,' Gibbons said, in a statement read out by Sayeeda Warsi, one of two Muslim lawmakers who traveled out to Sudan to secure her release.

Gibbons, 54, wassentenced to 15 days in jail last Thursday for having allowed her students at a private school to name a teddy bear 'Mohammed.'

Without a pardon, she would have remained in jail another six days.

She is expected to leave Sudan on flight to England soon after the courts ruled she should be deported after completing her sentence, the spokesman said.

Gibbons also praised the 'kindness and generosity' of the Sudanese and said she would be sad to leave her job at the Unity High School and said she would miss her students 'terribly'. "

More Great News From Iraq

The "Surge" is working. This story came from the New York Daily News via Hyscience:

What I see every day in Iraq: locals turning against the insurgents:

"There hasn't been a single firefight in this city for months. The Marines at Camp Fallujah haven't been shot at with a rocket or mortar since April. Not one Marine from the 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment has even been wounded since they rotated into the city two months ago. The only shots the Marines have fired have been practice rounds on the range.

There's a gigantic perception lag in America these days. The Iraq of the popular imagination and the Iraq of the real world are not the same country. It wouldn't be quite right to say Fallujah is safe. You do not want to come here on holiday. But I'm a lot safer here as an American than any terrorist or insurgent would be. The Marines and Iraqi police find caches of weapons every day, thanks to tips called in by locals. No insurgent can plant an IED without getting turned in by war-weary civilians. Recently, an Al Qaeda cell from outside of town showed up and tried to distribute propaganda DVDs. They too were turned over to the police.

There are only 250 Marines in Fallujah, a city of about 350,000, right now. Last year, there were 3,000 Marines. Because the city is pacified, troops that were here can join the additional surge forces that are clearing and holding more volatile areas."
Everywhere I go in Fallujah, I am mobbed by smiling children who want me to take their picture. It wasn't always this way. "I didn't see a single kid out here in 2005," one Marine told me. "If a kid popped out of the house, his parents yanked him right back inside." Women walk the streets by themselves now, as well, which I'm also told was unheard of not long ago.

Freeing Gibbons Would Wound Muslim "Sensibilities"

UPDATE: GIBBONS FREED

Tomorrow morning, to MP’s from Great Britain will meet with the President of Sudan to discuss a pardon for Gillian Gibbons (the "Teddy Bear Teacher"), This meeting is scheduled for 10:30 AM in Sudan (07:30 GMT). However, the Council of Islamic Scholars warned the Sudanese government that freeing Gibbons would "wound the sensibilities of Muslims in Sudan."

Freeing Gibbons would wound sensibilities. This type of statement is outrageous. Not that I am saying that the Sudanese would not riot over her release. What I am is disgusted and OUTRAGED with is that we are to be concerned with the Sensibilities of Islamic Extremists.

We are to be worried about the Sensibilities of those who have killed 453 people and injured 529 in 57 Jihad attacks during the week of November 17-23.

We are to be worried about the Sensibilities of those who would prosecute at 16 year old boy, because HE was the VICTIM of Gang Rape.

We are to be worried about the Sensibilities of those who beat and imprison a Female Rape Victim, because she got into the wrong car.

We are to be worried about the Sensibilities of those who call for the Death of Gillian Gibbons because her students wanted to name a teddy bear Mohammed.

To those on the LEFT who keep saying that if WE had been concerned about their Sensibilities they would not hate us or that they would not be attacking us, may I remind you of a report to Congress by two US Ambassadors in response to inquiries on why we were being attacked:

That it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Qur’an, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every [Muslim] who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise

Of course that quote is from then Ambassador John Adams and then Ambassador Thomas Jefferson in 1786.

This has been happening for HUNDREDS of years. US Troops in Saudi Arabia is NOT the cause of Islamic Extremism. Establishment of Israel is NOT the cause of Islamic Extremism. US Culture is NOT the cause of Islamic Extremism. If none of these things had occurred, there would still be Islamic Extremism. Just like there was 200 years ago.

Perhaps it is time for a new strategy to Stop Islamic Extremism. Maybe it is time to realize that Islamic Extremist will never change. Perhaps it is time to realize that Islamic Extremism poses a Clear and Present Danger to the peoples of the free world, and it is time to unleash the FULL might and FURY of the Greatest Military Power on earth. Perhaps it is time for the American People to wake up, and realize that this War MUST be won.

Perhaps it is Time for Great Britain and the United States to tell Sudan, "Free Gillian Gibbons NOW, or we shall respond militarily with the fury of God’s own Thunder."

Free Gillian Gibbons and to Hell with the Sensibilities of these Islamic Extremists.

Gibbons: "I don't want any resentment towards Muslims"

UPDATE: British MP's to Meet with Sudan President at 07:30 GMT Monday. Click here for more.

Less than twenty-four hours after protesters demonstrated and called for her death, Gillian Gibbons, the British teacher imprisoned in Sudan for naming a teddy bear Mohamed, expressed concern that her situation would cause people to resent Muslims. In a phone call from prison to her son in the UK, Gibbons said, "I don’t want any resentment towards Muslim people."

Gibbons had to be moved from the prison general population to a secure location due to the protests, the violence, and the threats to her life. But despite these things, she and her son discussed whether her situation was going to cause people to be angry and show resentment to Muslim people.

This is a perfect example of the extremes of difference between the British and American views of freedom and radical Islam. We are tolerant people who forgive. Radical Islam is steadfast in its complete and total intolerance of any thought, idea, or action, imagined or real, intended or accidental that is perceived in the slightest manner to go against their thought processes. While our response is to forgive, their response is to behead or crucify. While we try to defend Islamic Nations, such as Kuwait, their response is to declare war or jihad upon us.

Unfortunately, this radical Islamic system of beliefs, and the Terrorism that is associated with it, is not new. The only thing new is the CURRENT excuse for their barbarism.

For those that do not know history, the first war fought by the United States (after gaining Independence) was against Islamic Terrorists who preyed on Christian and Non-Islamic shipping. In 1786 Thomas Jefferson and John Adams met with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja to ask why Americans were being killed and enslaved without any provocation. The response was:
That it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Qur'an, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman [Muslim] who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.
In 1801 Yusuf Karamanli declared war against the United States after President Jefferson refused to pay tribute demanded by Karamanli. Congress did not declare war in this instance, but provided President Jefferson with authorization to take military action (this is starting to sound very familiar). The Navy and Marines then went "to the shores of Tripoli" to subdue the pirates.

The second war against these Islamic terrorist was fought in 1815. The terrorist believed the United States was distracted by the War of 1812 and again began killing, enslaving, and terrorizing Americans and American shipping. Again, Congress did not declare war but did authorize military action.

I guess this proves that History tends to repeat itself.

For hundreds of years, Islamic Extremism has flourished. The idea of executing a person for a perceived insult is nothing new. Attacking, killing and enslaving people because of they are not Muslim, is nothing new. The idea that we could somehow appease these extremists or that the cause of their actions is because we sent female troops to Saudi Arabia is beyond ridiculous. They hate us because we exist, they hate us because we exercise freedom; they hate us because we do not believe exactly what the are ordering and demanding us to believe.

Mrs. Gibbons' concern that her situation would would cast a bad light on all Muslims is honorable. It shows that she is a forgiving "Christian" woman, who is willing to forgive even though SHE was clearly wronged and her life has been threatened with death. This is in stark contrast to the Islamic Extremist response of strapping on a bomb, filling a car with TNT, or hijacking a plane full of people, and causing as much carnage, chaos, death and destruction as they can, for the smallest PERCEIVED slights.

There is hope for Gibbons and a possible pardon.

Yesterday, Gibbons was visited by two British Lawmakers who are both Muslims. Lord Ahmed and Baroness Warsi, flew to Sudan on their own dime (or shilling, as the case may be) to work on securing Gibbons release. The UK is putting pressure on Sudan to grant a pardon. Over the last five years, the UK has provided $671 million (326 million GBP) in aid to Sudan.

Gibbons did say that she is being treated well by her guards, and that her jailers are going out of their way to make sure she is being treated well.

It is nice that she is being treated well, but it was Extremism, Intollerance and Barbarism that has put her in jail in the first place and outside the walls of the jail thousands are still calling for her death.

The Biggest Game of the Year

It is the biggest event of the year for the two colleges involved. Their entire season has been about the three hours today when the schools meet. For them, every other game has been practice. For the coaches and players, their previous record has not mattered, this game, is it. Even if the teams have lost every other game of the year, winning THIS game, makes it a winning season.

For years to come, the players will be asked the outcome of this game. Millions of fans around the world will watch this game. All other activity will stop or be delayed. The play by play will be broadcast to every spot on the globe, by video, by audio, by text; some by clear transmission and in other cases by broadcast so secure, no other nation on earth can break the code. The game will be followed at homes, in tents, trucks, on ships, in the air, in mountain and desert camps, and under the oceans.

This game will be played until the very last second. If one side is down by more than a touchdown with less than a minute to play, the stands will NOT start to empty. Anyone who has followed this game through the years knows that lead of this game can change at any moment, and has, in the past, been decided with mere seconds remaining. The players will give their all and never give up hope, despite what the scoreboard reads.

Yet professional Football careers will likely not be in the future of any player. Unlike other games played today, their will be no thoughts of next years NFL draft or about an NFL signing bonus. This game is being played by young men who are playing only for their teams and not for personal glory. This game is likely the only game today where the game is being played only for love of the game.

When this game ends, there will be tears, of joy and sadness, but there will be no ill will toward the other side. Immediately, both teams will gather, side by side, and sing their Alma Matter's and become brothers once again.

This game is about more than just Football. THIS game is about Duty; about Honor; about Country.

No, the biggest game of today is not Missouri-Oklahoma. The biggest game today is the 108th Army-Navy Game.

Other games played today may receive more hype, and they will receive more coverage by print, by bloggers, and by the media in general, but no other game will be played with more emotion. No other game will be played with more spirit. No other game will be played with more honor.

Soldiers and Sailors around the globe will stop for this game. Televisions and radios on bases, on ships and in the Pentagon will be tuned to this game. Soldiers hidden in valley's and mountains running secret missions will radio to ask the score. For the time this game is played they will be rivals, but when this game ends, again they will be brothers in arms.

Next year, at this time, the seniors that play this game today will be serving our country, for every player today is a Soldier, Sailor or Marine.

In the years to come, each of these players will serve our country with honor and distinction, and some may be called upon to give The Last Full Measure of Devotion. But for them, and for us, no matter what the future holds, and no matter what success and sacrifices...

...there will always be this game.

Clinton Hostage Situation: It's Over

Apparently a man with a bomb strapped to his chest has walked into a Clinton Campaign office in New Hampshire and is holding hostages. Senator Clinton (and her Secret Service Detail) was not in the office.

Senator Clinton has canceled a speech to the DNC this afternoon due to the situation at her office (likely at the suggestion of the Secret Service).

UPDATE:
According to CNN there are two people in the Rochester, NH Clinton office and the nearby Obama office has been closed. The hostage taker is demanding to speak to the Senator.

Update (13:48 CDT):
According to MSNBC TV, there were originally four people in the office. The hostage taker immediately let two go (a woman and child), but is holding two hostages.

Update (14:07 CDT):
According to live coverage on MSNBC TV, one hostage has been released and a "communication device" has been delivered to the hostage taker.

Update (14:19 CDT):
According to live reporting on MSNBC, the Police are now in Contact with hostage taker.

Update (14:47 CDT):
Again according to MSNBC, the suspect is known to police in Rochester from previous encounters. Apparently the 40 year old white male has a history of mental illness (Go Figure!). The Clinton's have cancelled all events for the day.

Update (14:51 CDT):
MSNBC- The suspect went to the hardware store earlier TODAY and purchase some of the materials for his "bomb."

Yes, this is a serious situation, but this is a situation at a Political Office and I do write with a political slant. So here is my question. At what point today will we be hearing Democrats start calling for a Federal Waiting Period on all Hardware Store Purchases?

Update (15:03 CDT):
According to Fox News Live Reporting:The hostage taker's son is stating that the "bomb" is actually road flares. Man is also reported to have been saying there was a government conspiracy against him in recent weeks and that the government had planted a bug inside him (according to Fox Reporters).

UPDATE (16:38 CDT):
It appears, according to live coverage, that the last hostage may have been released.

FINAL:
It's over. FOX NEWS Is reporting on TV Coverage that Hillary will be coming to NH to thank everyone (and for a Photo Op with Law Enforcement). There is also no truth to the rumor that this situation involved a "Snuke"

CNN.com - CNN Political Ticker-DNC Chair Statement: "“Unfortunately as some of you know, there is a hostage situation in New Hampshire involving a Clinton campaign staff person,' he said. 'The details are sketchy at this time, but understandably Senator Clinton is now dealing with this very difficult problem and she is not going to be able to join us today. And we will keep them in our prayers and hope for a resolution to this situation in New Hampshire.”"

From WCVB Boston: "An armed man has taken people hostage at Hillary Clinton's campaign office in Rochester, N.H., according to TV station WMUR in Manchester. Buildings in the area have been locked down. Hillary Clinton is not in the state, Boston TV station WCVB reported"

From CNN.com: "The WMUR Web site said a witness, Lettie Tzizik, told the station she spoke to a woman shortly after she was released from the office by the hostage-taker. 'A young woman with a 6-month or 8-month-old infant came rushing into the store just in tears, and she said, 'You need to call 911. A man has just walked into the Clinton office, opened his coat and showed us a bomb strapped to his chest with duct tape,'' the Web site reported."

New Push to Roll Back Don' t ask Don't Tell on Heals of CNN Debate

Right on the heals of the CNN Debate and the Keith Kerr "Don't Ask Don't Tell" question that now everyone is talking about, the International Herald Tribune writes that 28 retired generals and admirals plan to release a letter on Friday urging Congress to repeal the law. Friday, November 30, 2007 marks the 14th anniversary of "don't ask don't tell."

Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. John Shalikashvili is amoung the signers of the letter to Congress. According to the IHT, a series of rallies are also planned on the Mall in Washington, D.C. by groups that are calling for a change in "don't ask, don't tell."

Undoubtedly, the rallies and the letter will get wide spread news coverage, especially now that the issue of "Don't Ask" has been brought to the public attention in such a dramatic way.

IF Keith Kerr had not asked his question and make his disertation on CNN during the debate and been found, very quickly, to be a Clinton Steering Committee Member, the entire country would not already be talking about this issue.

If Keith Kerr had not asked his question, Democratic Pollsters and Staff would not have had the opportunity today to be spinning, "yes, but Gen. Kerr's question was legitimate. Republicans are wrong."

If Keith Kerr had not asked his question, would the letter to Congress, and the gatherings on the Mall even be noticed?

What It Means to Be Called a Conservative

Rush Limbaugh spoke Thursday saying that the only true conservative in the GOP Campaign is Fred Thompson. As a Fred Thompson supporter I was ecstatic to hear this from Rush. However, there was a bigger message about Fred Thompson that Rush delivered that must be brought into the light and discussed for all to hear.

Rush not only stated Fred Thompson was the only conservative, but called the current "so-called" front runners moderates by name. This is important. Rush basically told the supporters of Gov. Huckabee, Mayor Giuliani, and Gov. Romney, you are supporting candidates that are not conservatives, you are supporting those with liberal tendencies and with liberal history.

Rush also indirectly pointed out that Senator Thompson is the only Reagan Conservative. After saying that only Fred Thompson did not display moderateness and liberalism (therefore Conservatism), Rush said, "I've told you during the course of this one campaign year that one of the things that's bothering me, is I'm a Reagan conservative, and I believe in conservatism."

President Reagan and Reagan Conservatism is the heart of the party. I believe I can fairly state that most members of the GOP believe that Ronald Reagan was one of the greatest leaders our party has ever had. We long for a leader who emulates this great man. We want that type of leadership that makes us proud to be an American.

We want a leader who speaks with an authority of conviction. We want a leader that we know will not flinch when confronting those nations and entities who bare ill will toward us. We want a leader whose very name causes our enemies to tremble. We want a leader that our friends respect and that our allies will trust and defend.

We want a leader who, when he takes the oath of office, will truly mean it when he swears that he will SUPPORT and DEFEND the CONSTITUTION. We want a leader who will appoint Conservative LIONS to the court rather than centrists that will easily win Senatorial confirmation. We want a leader that believes that those first Ten Amendments should be taken as a Holy Writ, and that realizes that these Rights are God Given Rights not given by Government.

We want a leader that believes in True Conservatism; a leader that believes in Empowering the individual. We want a leader that believes in Our Republic and who makes us want to stand and Shout for All to hear, "I am a member of the REPUBLICAN Party."

Rush is right. There is only conservatism and you either are or you are not.

Rush is right. There is only one conservative running, and that conservative is Fred Thompson.

From Rush: Moderates Dominate GOP Debate; Only Fred Sounded Conservative

FROM RUSHLIMBAUGH.COM:
"There was one candidate who did not display any moderateness or liberalism or have any of his past forays into those areas displayed, and that candidate was Fred Thompson. Now, this is not an endorsement. You know, I don't endorse during primaries. I just point out: These are things I noticed, and I've told you during the course of this one campaign year that one of the things that's bothering me, is I'm a Reagan conservative, and I believe in conservatism. It's in my soul and it's in my heart, and I know it is the best way for us to manage our affairs to ensure the most prosperity for the most, to continue our freedom, to protect our country. "

Teacher Sentenced for Insulting Islam

Gillian Gibbons was sentenced to 15 days in prison and deportation today by a Sudanese Court for the crime of "Insulting the faith of Muslims In Sudan." Gibbons is the British teacher who allowed her class to name a teddy bear. The name the class chose was Muhammad.

Yes, Gibbons could have been sentenced to 40 lashes and been convicted of crimes that are, under Sudanese law, much worse. However 15 days prison time in what, I am sure, is not a facility built with human comfort, decency or long term survival in mind, is a punishment that borders on barbarism.

Gibbons lawyer is planning an appeal. Let us hope and pray that her appeal does not end up with a harsher punishment like others have.

The Kansas City Star:
"A British teacher in Sudan was convicted Thursday of the less-serious charge of insulting Islam for letting her pupils name a teddy bear 'Muhammad,' and was sentenced to 15 days in prison and deportation to Britain, one of her lawyers said."

Reuters:
DUBAI (Reuters) - Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden urged European countries to end their military cooperation with U.S. forces in Afghanistan in an audio tape aired by Al Jazeera television on Thursday.

"Since the American tide is receding and they would eventually return to their home across the Atlantic... it is in your interest to force the hand of your politicians (away from) the White House," said a speaker in the recording who sounded like bin Laden.

The Debate: From the MSM (Kansas City Star and AP)

I am pleasently suprised with the coverage of the GOP Debate from the Kansas City Star/AP Story. I am particularly pleased at the "positive" wording they use to describe Senator Thompson, stating he "Fred Thompson took the opportunity to distinguish himself from both Romney and Giuliani." From a paper that most REAL Republicans in Kansas City call the Comunuist Star, this is high praise indeed!

The Kansas City Star:
Fred Thompson took the opportunity to distinguish himself from both Romney and Giuliani, arguing that Romney had supported President Bush's plan to provide a path to citizenship for some immigrants in the United States illegally now. He took Giuliani to task for attacking Romney's employment of illegal immigrants. 'I think we've all had people who we've hired who in retrospect was a bad decision,' he said, alluding to Bernard Kerik, Giuliani's disgraced former police commissioner who is under federal indictment on multiple charges.
...
One questioner, Keith Kerr of Santa Rosa, Calif., a retired Army colonel who served as a brigadier general in the reserves, asked the candidates about their views on gays in the military and revealed himself to be gay. Not mentioned was his membership on a steering committee of gays and lesbians for Democratic candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.

There is something more to this, and I am researching now to see if there is a connection between Kerr, CNN or Anderson Cooper. The internet and Google are wonderful things.

Final Thoughts On the CNN Debate/Gong Show

First, this was the MOST BIZARRE thing I think I have seen in years as far as a debate goes.

BUT as far as the best candidate goes:

Senator Thompson was, I thought, Presidential in appearance and in his responses. The Senator answered all questions quite well and I continue to strongly support him.

Some of the more interesting things that I believe will play over the next few days were accusations between Mitt Romney and Rudy. Giuliani's unequivocal denial of what will end up being "New York Travel Gate" in the next few days, may cause him problems in the future if any of the accusations are true.

Both Mitt Romney and Rudy appeared to be nervous at times, but between the two, I must say it appeared that Romney walked all over Rudy.

Ron Paul is a NUT CASE.

Senator Thompson's answer on the war was impressive and showed his convictions. He had the right answer and stressed that we are winning the war. I also loved the Senators Second Amendment answers, pointing out that Rudy supported Clinton gun control and his, "I own a couple of guns but I'm not going to tell you what they are or where they are" Great Answer

CNN was WAY OUT OF LINE with some of the questions that were asked-- especially the do you believe every word in the Bible question.

It will be very interesting to see the polls and the instant feed back to see what comes of tonight, what the dial groups show and what the polls show.

Thoughts on the Nov. 28 Presidential Debate (Live Blogging)

Also Blogging Live
Fred File

First Impressions:
The "pre-game" introduction really looks like "Fred Thompson, with the Seven Dwarves"

On to the Debate-

In the first question Rudy only talked about deporting illegals that "had committed a crime." Mitt smacked back hard, but Rudy accused Mitt of having illegals working in his mansion. This really turned into a cat fight. Rudy ended up being boo'd.

Senator Thompson's response to the "Will you take a pledge to veto amnesty" was brilliant, right on and to the point. Senator McCain was booed as soon as he said did not support amnesty.

Mitt is right on smacking Huckabee around for giving tax payer benefits for illegally.
--------
Ron Paul is a nut
--------
All the GOP Candidates did "sing to the choir" on the issue of cutting spending... Although I personally believe that McCain was part of the problem...

Senator Thompson really stepped up and grabbed the "third rail" when he answered the question on the three programs he would get rid of. He said, I will reform Social Security and Entitlements
--------
Again Ron Paul is a nut
--------
Senator McCain accused Ron Paul of being an Isolationist and stated that is what caused WWII.
--------
Ok, what candidate in his RIGHT MIND is going to say ANYTHING against FARMERS four weeks before IOWA?

But wait, Rudy just implied that he might reduce subsidies....
--------
Rudy just DENIED the Politico story-- this could be interesting tomorrow
--------
The Thompson Video just SMACKED HARD at Mitt and the Huckabee... Mitt did give a good mea culpa on having been pro-choice though- it may actually have scored points.
--------
Rudy Gets Boo'd again on the Second Amendment. Now of course he is backing off previous views.

Senator Thompson again shows that he is Presidential material. He nails Rudy on his Second Amendment record. His answer on Gun ownership was also perfect.

YES JOHN MCCAIN WAS IN VIETNAM ---THANKS FOR REMINDING US SENATOR ("I carried a 45 while a pilot over Vietnam")
--------
(Pause for Cat Fight between Mit and Rudy)
--------
Senator Thompson states Supreme Court is the number one issue before us when addressing the issue of abortion-- He is definitely correct. Getting the Court back to interpreting the Constitution instead of legislating would be incredible.
--------
Rudy has more Waffles than a house of pancakes!!! FIRST he says States have the right to decide abortion, then he states, there should be federal penalties for violating abortion laws--- which is it Mayor??? A State issue or Federal?
--------
Gov. Huckabee did a great job with the What would Jesus do with the death penalty question.
--------
CNN IS WAY OUT OF LINE with some of these questions---Especially the "Do you believe EVERY word of the Bible"
--------
On to Global Policy

How should we improve our image with the Islamic world? Rudy and the others who answered did a great job with this question.

How can you disagree with McCain on waterboarding?
Senator McCain got a bit angry on this question and really smacked Mitt around. However, I do think the Senator (McCain) did press the issue a bit too long and should have let his first answer stand.
---------
Who will make a permanent long term military commitment to the Iraqi people?
Senator Thompson stated quite correctly that we don't know how long it will take but we should stay as long as it takes. He sounded strong and resolute and a man of his convictions.
--------
Ron Paul is a nut
--------
How in the WORLD can Ron Paul argue with John McCain on Vietnam? How can Ron Paul say if we left al-Qaeda alone they would leave us alone?
--------
How does Giuliani respond to the charges that he's using 9/11 to win the White House?

Giuliani: Look at my whole record--- (wait for it-- his record is about to be an issue)
--------
Senator Thompson shows has a great sense of humor, even self deprecating humor, when responding to a cartoon of VP Cheney with the question of should a VP have as much power as the current VP.

Senator McCain on the other-hand, kind of smacked President Bush a bit on National Security.
--------
Gays in the Military--
Duncan Hunter headed down the "unit cohesion" path--
Mitt had to WAFFLE on the issue, based on past statements.
Senator McCain says "don't ask don't tell works"
--------
Will You Accept the support of the LCR? (Log Cabin Republicans)
Huckabee-- I need everyones support I can get. But I will stick to my convictions. This was a good answer
--------
What will you do to fix Social Security?
Talk about a question made for Senator Thompson. He provided a brilliant answer discussing talking entitlements.
Mitt sounds like he agrees with Senator Thompson.
--------
Will You Send a Human to Mars by 2020 or Pledge Support of Human Exploration?
Interesting little fight on this question-- one side we need more exploration--it fosters discovery, the other we can't be everything to everyone-- we are spending too much money.
--------
Why don't African Americans vote Republican?
(Because Rudy IMMEDIATELY starts talking about how he Reformed Welfare!!!! I was insulted)
--------
What Does the Stars and Bars Represent? (This is a CNN Stupid Question)
Mitt alienated the entire south saying it should never be shown...He answered like a Yankee
Senator Thompson-- being from a Southern State--- did a very good job of tredding lightly on this STUPID question without calling people racists or saying the Civil War did not exist.
--------
Infrastructure
Rudy-- Here is what I did in the past--- a good answer
--------
Again Ron Paul is a nut
--------
Senator McCain did not answer the question and goes on to the line item veto which prompts an arguement on the line veto with Rudy.
--------
Why did Giuliani root for the Red Sox?
Giuliani ---when I was mayor we won 4 series
Mit --- like most American's we hate the Yankees
--------
Thanks to everyone who watched this live blog

Air Force Grounds F-15s Again

The US Air Force announced it was grounding the entire fleet of F-15 A's through D's today. This is the second time this month that the Air Force has grounded the F-15's.

The grounding is said to be due to cracks in longerons. Longerons are rails that hold the fuselage together.

The F-15A has been in service since 1975. Various versions of the F-15 are in use by Israel, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Singapore. Israel also flies a new longer range variant of the F-15, the F-15I.

The current US variant, the F-15 Strike Eagle is the version that is in use in Afghanistan.

Navy Times: "For the second time in less than a month, F-15 Eagles are grounded. Air Combat Command was announced today that A, B, C and D-model versions of the fighter would “stand down” for an indefinite period of time. F-15E Strike Eagles, a larger and newer version of the fighters, are not grounded and continue to fly, ACC said. Like the ordered grounding on Nov. 3, this decision stems from the Nov. 2 crash of a 27-year-old Missouri Air National Guard F-15C. That fighter broke apart between the cockpit and main fuselage as it flew an air-to-air combat training sortie. Wednesday’s announcement comes 12 days after F-15 A-D units were told their jets could return to flight as each fighter passed a 15-hour-long inspection. As of today, about 90 percent of the F-15As, Bs, Cs and Ds had passed the inspection."

Report Shows Increasing Positive Opinion About Iraq

The Pew Research Center released a poll yesterday showing public opinion on Iraq is generally positive. Although this report will certainly be spun by some as being negative, the data, as published by Pew, shows that the public is now evenly split between those that think the War is going well, and those that think the War is going poorly.

Forty-Eight percent of those surveyed believe the military effort in Iraq is going either fairly well or well while forty-eight percent believe the military effort is going not too well or not well at all. Four percent of those surveyed did not know or did not answer.

More people also believe that the US will probably or definitely succeed with the mission in Iraq than believe that the US could fail (48% vs. 46%).

Fifty percent of those surveyed believe the military is making progress in training the Iraqi military while thirty-six percent believe we are loosing ground.

Fifty-One percent believe that the US is making progress in preventing terrorist from using Iraq as a base, while again, thirty-six percent believe the US is loosing ground.

When asked the open ended question, "What one word describes your impression of the situation in Iraq these days?" more people responded with Improved/Improving than any other single response.

Global Warming, Irreversible Catastrophe, Dogs and Cats Living Together, Mass Hysteria

Today the United Nations declared the world is coming to an end due to man's existence on the planet. Apparently, those of us in the United States should not be using air conditioning or driving our cars because it will cause someone in Etheopia to starve.

The one question that this report does not address is where is the global warming in the US? According to information from NASA, the 1930's had four of the hottest ten years in the last century in the US with 1934 being the hotest. It is actually cooler now versus then.

Reuters:
BRASILIA (Reuters) - Unless the international community agrees to cut carbon emissions by half over the next generation, climate change is likely to cause large-scale human and economic setbacks and irreversible ecological catastrophes, a U.N. report said on Tuesday.

The U.N. Human Development Report issued one of the strongest warnings yet of the lasting impact of climate change on living standards and a strong call for urgent collective action.

"We could be on the verge of seeing human development reverse for the first time in 30 years," Kevin Watkins, lead author of the report, told Reuters.
...
When people in an American city turn on their air conditioning or people in Europe drive their cars, their actions have consequences ... linking them to rural communities in Bangladesh, farmers in Ethiopia and slum dwellers in Haiti," the report said.

MORE Good News From Iraq

Approximately 800 Iraqi's boarded busses today in Syria for a voluntary trip home. The bus convoy, the first sponsered by the Iraqi government, left for Iraq from Damascus.

Over the last few weeks, ten's of thousands have been returning to Iraq from Syria and other countries in the region. According to the Syrian and Iraqi Governments approximately 46,000 Iraqis returned home in October. The UN is admitting to a net 1000 persons a day returning to Iraq.

From the Kansas City Star:
Hundreds of Iraqi refugees boarded buses for home on Tuesday in the first convoy from an Iraqi-funded effort to speed the return of families that fled the country's violence and insecurity.

Many Iraqis have headed back on own their own from Syria and elsewhere as extremist attacks have fallen sharply in Baghdad and other areas. But now the Iraqi government is hoping to accelerate the flow - and draw more attention to the recent drop in violence - by offering to pay for trips home.

I find it repulsive that the US should even consider such a thing. The PRC is a COMMUNIST COUNTRY. The Republic of China is a Democracy and it is the legitimate government of all China.

Lest we forget, during the Communist Revolution in the Republic of China, the government of China fled to its last remaining province, Taiwan. That government, the ORIGINAL government of China, was and is, democratic and is still standing on the island of Taiwan.

We should have a One China policy- Supporting the Democratic China, the Republic of China, until the PRC surrenders.

From Reuters:
BEIJING (Reuters) - China has again prodded the United States to oppose a controversial referendum on U.N. membership by Taiwan and warned Washington to stop arms sales to the island China claims as its own, state media said on Tuesday.

Missouri Gov. Proposes Banning Drivers Licenses to Illegals

Gov. Matt Blunt today proposed adding Missouri as yet another state to ban illegal aliens from receiving drivers licenses and is proposing criminal penalties to those who help illegals get drivers licenses.

As a person who was in a car accident in 1996 with two illegal aliens who were driving while intoxicated and without insurance, I say, "it's about time!"

From the Kansas City Star:
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Gov. Matt Blunt announced another piece to his crackdown on illegal immigration today: a legislative proposal that would bar Missouri from issuing driver's licenses to people who are in the state illegally.

The state already has safeguards intended to prevent illegal immigrants from getting driver's licenses, but Missouri lacks a specific law against it, Blunt said.

"This would clarify in law that the state of Missouri will not issue a driver's license to an illegal immigrant," Blunt said Monday during a news conference at the Kansas City Police Department. "And it would create penalties that do not exist today for those who attempt to help an illegal obtain a driver's license."

State Rep. Ben Hodge Endorses Thompson

Kansas State Representative Ben Hodge endorsed Senator Thompson today. “If the United States is to remain a world leader, our leaders must confront the moral issues of human life and government size,” Hodge said.

Rep. Hodge's endorsement appears to be the only endorsement by a Kansas elected official beside Sen. Brownback's endorsement of Senator McCain.

Rep. Hodge represents part of Overland Park, Kansas in the state legislature. He was originally elected to the JCCC Board of Trustees in 2005 and then to the State Legislature in 2006.

Ben Hodge and I worked together on the Kobach for Congress campaign in 2004. I am proud to be able to call Representative Hodge a friend.

N. Korea Executes Man for Making International Calls

Add this one to the Barbarism File. Again, Kim Jong-il proves that he is barbaric. This is probably why he is "so ronery, so ronery."

From MSNBC
SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea has resumed frequent public executions, among them a factory chief accused of making international phone calls who was shot in a stadium before 150,000 spectators, a South Korean aid group said Monday.

In the mean time, the UN has been accused of covering up the UN Development Programme funneling millions in hard cash to North Korea.

VP Cheney Found to Have A-Fib

From FoxNews.Com-
WASHINGTON — Vice President Dick Cheney will undergo further evaluation Monday of an irregular heartbeat, found Monday morning during a checkup for lingering cold symptoms, Cheney's office said

Doctors found atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart.

Cheney is expected to go to George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., for further evaluation and, if needed, will undergo cardioversion — delivery of an electric impulse to the heart, which is a standard treatment for atrial fibrillation.

Update from Reuters:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, who has a history of heart problems, was treated with an electric shock for an irregular heartbeat discovered during a doctor's visit on Monday, his office said.

Cheney, 66, one of President George W. Bush's closest advisers, returned home from the hospital after the procedure, which required sedation, and will resume his normal schedule at the White House on Tuesday, his office said.

VP Cheney needed to be cardioverted for his a-fib. However, he already has an internal pacer and defibrilator. I am wondering why this didn't stop the a-fib and if we will hear soon that the Vice President will need to have another heart proceedure.
