Shutdown 13- Lessons to Learn

With the possible deal announced by Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell, it appears that this round of the budget fight might be over. With the apparent end of "Shutdown ’13" there are lessons that need to be remembered from the last two weeks.

1. -Our Great Leader, King Barack, the Petulant (Peace be Upon Him) will use the power of his office to attack the American People and use the power of his office to cause pain to average Americans. The biggest example of this are the actions of the National Park Service- closing open air memorials (such as the WWII Memorial and Vietnam Memorial) and attempting to close private property – such as Mt Vernon. These actions were, at best, extra-constitutional. More accurately, these actions differ little from the actions of King George III during the 1770’s and are no less Tyrannical. Since the long term memory of most Americans seems to be almost non-existent, and many who would read this will say “King George who?” I will also say that the actions of the President were NIXON-IAN at best. 


2. -The Main Stream Media will ignore the extra-constitutional actions, illegal activities, and down- right atrocities on the left. When the MSM cannot avoid reporting on actions that appear “bad for the left” they will spin the events or actions to make sure the left appears in the best light possible. For example- ABC News brushed over the conflict over the WWII memorial on October 1, stating the vets were allowed into the memorial - vs. the Stars and Stripes report that the Vets “stormed” the memorial- there is a huge difference between the two. 


3. -GOP “Leaders”- or better stated, those GOP Senators who are “approved” or “liked” by the MSM and Left- Senator McCain for example- will spend their time attacking members of their own party, rather than standing for principle. Put it another way- the GOP “Leadership” would rather “eat their young” than stand on principle. Senator McCain’s attack on Senator Cruz over the “sort of filibuster” is a prime example. In response to Senator McCain’s comments – Senator McCain, take a Civics Class- we DO NOT live in a Democracy- we live in a Republic. (Not that Senator McCain would care what I have to say- I am only one of his constituents). It is time for the rank and file of the GOP to change the leadership and vote the bums out! 


4. -The Shutdown showed the excess of the Federal Government. Besides the closure of National Parks and Monuments- done mostly to “cause pain” to the average American, the impact on the average American was negligible. Now I am sure someone will be screaming, “But Federal Employee’s did not get paid!” Actually- they will. Federal Employees just got two weeks off, paid, and car manufacturers are saying federal employees can “defer” up to 3 months of payments on their vehicles! WOW! I wish I could get that the next time I am laid-off or furloughed from a private organization!


5. -The GOP "Leadership" in the Senate is the best there is at "grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory."   

These are just a few lessons that could be learned from Shutdown ’13. Hopefully these lessons will be remembered when it is time to vote in November 2014-but I fear they will not. I am quite sure there are many more lessons that can be learned, and I invite readers to comment and add or discuss lessons that should be learned.

A New Nightmare Scenario

According to reports Senator McCain will be meeting with Former Senator Obama (soon to be, but NOT YET President-Elect) today, November 17, 2008 about cooperation.

Rumor has it that Former Senator Obama may offer Senator McCain the post of Secretary of Defense. The idea of a Republican SecDef, with a Democratic President is not that far-fetched- after all, Sec. McNamara was a Republican.

However, this appointment would be an INCREDIBLE VICTORY for the Democrats, and a NIGHTMARE for the GOP.

If Senator McCain leaves the Senate, his seat will be fill by appointment by the DEMOCRAT Governor of Arizona. This would, as things now appear to be standing, put the Democrats at, or over the 60 seat Super Majority.

It appears that Stevens' seat is gone. The "recount" in Minnesota is a joke and appears to be headed for a Franken win-- especially if they keep finding "missing" ballots. The GOP could hold 41 seats if Saxby Chamblis wins in Georgia.

However, if Senator McCain leaves the Senate-- the Democrats have total control...

By the way-- is this Obama plagiarizing the "Seventh Season of West Wing"-- the "Maverick Republican Senator" gets appointed to the "First Minority President's cabinet."

Later today I am flying to Minneapolis-- anyone want to bet whether I am asked to fill out a Democratic Absentee Ballot for Franken when I land????

Thoughts on Sen. McCain's Acceptance

Sen. McCain gave a speech tonight that is probably the best of his political career.

Instead of talking about what is wrong with America it was about how much he loved America. He spoke of how he found the right partner to shake up Washington. He spoke of unity. He promised Independents and Democrats in is administration. He took the mantel of change right out of the hands of Sen. Barak Hussien Obama.

He spoke on issues- regardless of what the Democrats will say.

He spoke very personally of his time in Vietnam.

"We are Americans, We Never Give Up, We Never Hide for History."

As the crowd went wild, I personally started flashing back to hearing about "the Shining City on the Hill."

It was outstanding. It will win votes.

Barack Obama- "The One"

So, I have not posted in several months... The reason for this is simple. I have been working in a contract for hire position, and I was advised by a friend that perhaps I should back off for a while, so that my opinions would not influence my prospective employer.

However, I have been assured recently that it really was ok for me to write-- so I am back-- as often as I have time for-- sharing my "wisdom" with the world.

Sen. McCain Locks GOP Nomination- Huckabee Drops Out

It appears that Senator McCain has now officially won the GOP nomination, while the fight for the DNC nomination may drag on for some time.

The question becomes, what will Senator McCain do next? According to the coverage that I am watching on FOX, Senator McCain only narrowly won the conservative vote in Texas, but there was an alternative to Senator McCain for conservatives to cast a vote for (Huckabee).

Senator McCain must now bring the GOP together.

My gut tells me that Senator McCain will likely make some minor moves to the "right," but that he will not make any grand overtures to the conservative wing of the GOP. My gut says that he will count on the fact that Republicans will prefer him to any Democrat. While this may be true, Senator McCain needs at least inspire the GOP base enough to show up on election day.

Maybe Senator McCain will be able to select a good VP candidate that will pacify the GOP base. The smart move would be for him to select someone that will appeal to the right side of the party, but not scare off independents.

Fortunately for the Republican Party, the primary season is over, while the Democrats keep slugging it out and fighting with each other for the nomination.

Gov. Huckabee has won 36 of the 38 delegates in the Kansas GOP Caucuses this morning. Senator McCain has won 2 delegates.

According to estimates, Senator McCain has 714 delegates and Gov. Huckabee has 217. Interestingly, Gov. Romney STILL has more delegates than Gov. Huckabee at 286.

Sen. McCain's Speech to CPAC

I had the opportunity to watch Senator McCain's speech at CPAC. (The Captain's Quarters has a great live reaction to the speech). It was a fairly good speech, although I am not at all ready to hold hands with Senator McCain and sing "Kum By Ya."

The Senator did do an ok job of addressing some of his apostacies, but, the Senator has a long way to go to convince me that he is a conservative that deserves my vote.

Senator McCain's speech I felt paled in comparison to Governor Romney's. Gov. Romney will be remembered as the man who stood aside for the good of the Nation and the good of the Party.

I am a Conservative. I am also a Republican. This blog has, supported Senator Thompson, as he was the most Conservative Candidate. I have also supported Governor Romney, when Senator Thompson suspended his campaign.

I have been critical of Senator McCain. I will continue to be critical of the Senator when the need arises.

I am not at this time providing a endorsement of Senator McCain. However, I will do everything in my power to fight to stop Clinton or Obama.
